EXT. FOREST - DUSK

In the distance, a little girl, lost in the woods, dressed in
black, approaches holding a lit candle.

Movement in the trees nearby forces her to freeze, in
frightened shock. She drops the candle, hitting the ground
in slow motion.

FADE TO BLACK.

Haunting instrumental music crescendoes.

EXT. CATHOLIC CHURCH - RAINY NIGHT
The moonlight pierces through the darkened clouds releasing
the storm. Church bells ring.
Standing high above the neighborhood, a celtic cement cross
of Catholic Church, gets pounded by the rain.

INT. CHURCH - SAME MOMENT

The emptiness is filled with a young woman, ALEX MURPHY,
dressed in black, kneeling, praying to a statue of the Virgin
Mary. In her hands she fingers a black, 4-decade rosary for
the dead. A larger than life wooden crucifix flashes to the
sound of thunder.

An elderly woman walks up from behind Alex, in slow motion, a
card lands on the seat behind Alex.
The woman disappears as Alex grabs the card and sees an image
of "Our Lady of All Nations", the Madonna in a white flowing
gown and gold sash around her waist. A gold mantle hovers
her head as rays pour out from her hands.
Church bells ring.

CUT TO:

EXT. ALEX'S HOUSE - SAME MOMENT
The South Florida bedroom home window receives the same
weathered abuse.

Music continues.

Hiss of snake slithering in.

INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
The satin sheets wrap the beautiful Alex sleeping in bed.
Alex tosses and turns in her sleep. Spine chilling music
dances around her movements.

A figure in black, eyes wide open, stands in the corner
holding a rosary.

Her struggle continues.
We CLOSE ON Alex's disturbed, disgusted face, entering her
nightmare.

DISSOLVE TO:

DREAM SECQUENCE : EXT. HOLLAND - MORNING
Arial shot of Holland's infamous tall homes and canal
pathways, zoom down on Vondel Park.

A monk is kneeling by a brook praying.
Alex is standing in the trees of Vondel Park as we quickly
approach her from behind and rise up over her shoulder,
ghostlike.

ALEX V.O.
(whispers)
Hello?

A monk is moving ghostlike through the trees.

Flash images of religious icons, thunder pounds out each one.

In spirit form, Alex moves throught the trees forming a
doorway.

ALEX V.O. (CONT'D)
(echoes)
Is anybody here?

A monk praying in a gondola.

Alex worriedly walking away from locked up gondola.
Rising, spiraling Alex's serpentine curves, we drift towards
heaven, exposing the reflected Red Light District.

ALEX V.O.
(screams echoing)
Where am I!?
The lost look in her eye can not be mistaken as she takes off
running down the alley.

ALEX V.O. (CONT'D)
Mitch!

Spinning around Alex, her mouth closed, not seeing Mitch.

Snake strikes at camera.

Heavy breathing as feet pound through maze.

(screams)

INT. BEDROOM - SAME MOMENT
Alex screams waking herself from the nightmare.

FLASH: Serpent slithers by, "Edward Nyahay".

Graphics, "the Serpent" appears as "Krush" slams down upon it
accompanied by a statue of Our Lady of All Nations, the
Blessed Virgin Mary stands on the head of the serpent on top
of the earth.

Title reads, "Krush the Serpent".

Melodic inspirational music fades in with a montage sequence
of children's colorings. Roll credits over these images.

The next coloring, Alex lays in a hospital bed holding her
newborn. Mitch stands next to her smiling.

ALEX V.O.
Ashley entered our hearts and our love
soared to new heights.
Following, fade in on little girl laughing, "Ashley" is
written under the drawing as her laugh echoes and dissipates.
The last drawing fills the screen, an Angel flying away with
Daddy as Ashley and Mommy, crying, stare up at them.
Written in bubbles from their mouths, Ashley cries out,
"Daddy" and Alex cries out, "Mitch". The car, totalled,
stands off to the side.

ALEX V.O.
(somber)
Then the unthinkable happened. Mitch was
killed in a car accident, and on his last
day...I never said good-bye.

FADE IN:

EXT. SKY - NIGHT
The moon shines bright as it transforms into the rising sun.
Alex's voice calming the baby in her bed is faint.

EXT. HOUSE - EARLY MORNING
The sun rises over the house.

INT. BEDROOM - SAME MOMENT
A painting of a hand reaching in for a spirit family, stands
on a tidal wave, which makes the head of Christ.
Alex leans over her baby, ASHLEY, and kisses her on the
cheek. The sun pierces through striking their eyes.
She picks up the phone and dials a number.

ALEX
Hey...I had to call you to tell you I had
the same nightmare about Mitch last
night.
(tears rise)
But this time, I saw my baby die.

Awkward silence on the phone.

CUT TO:

INT. ANGELICA'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT
ANGELICA, an exotic beauty, mid-twenties, spontaneous, lays
in bed, eyes barely open. She jumps out of bed, clenching
the phone.

ANGELICA
Oh my God, what happened?

CUT TO:

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Alex is walking around the bedroom, pacing as she talks.

ALEX
She was covered in blood and a
snake...something about a snake attacking
her. Maybe it's a sign from Mitch.

INT. ANGELICA'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Angelica walks into the kitchen and makes coffee.

ANGELICA
A sign from Mitch? I think you need to
see Barrenger again.

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Alex looks out the window shaking her head.

ALEX
Nobody understands me. I can't find a
way out of this darkness encompassing me,
no choking me.

INT. ANGELICA'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

She pours herself a cup of coffee, phone to her ear.

ANGELICA
(reaffirming)
Look around you Alex. Ashley is not
darkness. Did you forget to take your
pills last night?

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Alex throws her hand in the air.

ALEX
(sighs)
Forget it. I'll call you later.

She hangs up the phone, gets back into bed snuggling into
Ashley. A tear stream down her cheek.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. PARK - EARLY AFTERNOON

Alex strolls Ashley into the park. She takes her out of the
stroller and walks her over to the baby swing.

She pushes her in the swing, making Ashley laugh.

Ashley's POV being pushed: Her mother's smile melts into the
deeper sadness inside her soul as she approaches and backs
away.

Alex's mind wanders entering her day dream.

INT. ALEX'S BEDROOM NIGHT

Alex asleep in bed.

DREAM: A bright light. Manifesting from the light is the
Mother of All Nations, standing open armed. Heavenly music
accompanies her voice As Mary speaks in tongues.

Alex focuses more intently as the Blessed Virgin Mary's words
are deciphered.

VIRGIN MARY
Remember the first and greatest
commandment, love. That embraces
everything.

She transforms into Our Lady of All Nations painting.

EXT. PARK - SAME MOMENT

Alex stands there looking wistful as Ashley is stopped,
sitting in the swing, looking up at her Mommy.

Another mother and child walk by looking at Alex with
concern. Alex acknowledges them. Fingering her Miraculous
Medal necklace.

ALEX
I'm fine.

The lady looks at her with an even more concerned look, then
walks away. Alex is able to hear the lady's thoughts, You've
been standing there for about five minutes, spaced out.

Alex looks down at Ashley who is content looking up at her.
Alex grabs the baby out of the swing and puts her down. Alex
sits on a nearby bench to watch Ashley.

ALEX
(to herself)
Our Lady of All Nations?

She lets Ashley climb up the metal stairs leading to the top
of the slide.

She watches her carefully as Ashley gets on her stomach and
slides down the slide feet first.

Alex catches her at the bottom of the slide, hugging her and
cheering her on.

ALEX
You did it. I'm so proud of you.

She walks her back to the stairs and lets her do it again.

A brunette 6-year old GIRL, runs over to Ashley and starts
talking to her. She sees Alex with her head down and
approaches.

GIRL
Excuse me mam, but are you alright?

ALEX
Yes, thank you.

GIRL
You're welcome. When I'm upset my mommy
tells me to think of something that will
make me happy, like eating ice cream.

Alex laughs.

ALEX
Thank you. Your mommy is a very smart
woman.

GIRL
Well I gotta go. Bye.

She waves to her as she leaves frame. Alex thinks to
herself.

ALEX V.O.
If only it were that easy.

EXT. PARK - AFTERNOON

Alex strolls Ashley along the outskirts of the park, Ashley
looks up at her with sadness in her eyes, she wants to play.
Alex slows her strolling as a stranger approaches..

Her POV: We sway back and forth...in slow motion, Alex
approaches the stranger and looks into his eyes.
He points his finger into the lens, opens his mouth as large
as he can and cracks up laughing. Alex blinks snapping her
from the hallucination. The stranger is normal.

Alex stands there in shock, then hurridly walks down the
block.

EXT. CEMETARY-SAME MOMENT

Alex enters the cemetery and walks over to the gravesite of
Mitch.

She pulls out her rosary for the dead and starts speaking to
Mitch. Alex lays a rose on grave.

ALEX
(to Mitch's grave)
My dear sweet heart, I love you. I feel
like I'm going crazy without you. I miss
you so much.

A tear rolls down Alex cheek.

ALEX
Give me peace. Mitch, I can't take
feeling your presence and not having you
here with me.

Alex is emotionally drained. She kisses the grave, wipes the
tears from her eyes, and picks up Ashley.

ALEX (CONT'D)
Time to go home, sweetie.

CUT TO:

EXT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - LATER

Alex pulls up to the driveway and gets Ashley from the front
seat. She closes the door and walks inside.

INT. HOUSE - CONTINUOUS

Alex puts Ashley down and lets her run free. Alex walks
inside and turns on the computer.

The computer boots up as she checks on Ashley. The desk top
surfaces as Alex yells in the background.

ALEX V.O.
I told you no more eating crayons.

We hear her walk back in the room and her hand presses the
mouse to sign on the internet.

Close up of Alex eyes, concentrating.

Close up on fingers typing. Crazed look in her eyes.

She punches in her last credit card number for electronic
ticketing. The screen reads, "Ft. Lauderdale to Amsterdam".

She hits print.

Her smile brightens as she thinks to herself. The sound of
the printer begins.

ALEX V.O.
I know if I can just visit the shrine of
"Our Lady of All Nations", in Amsterdam.
Mary will show me what Mitch is trying to
say. Then the dreams will stop...
(long pause)
...and everything will be fine, I know
it.

She grabs the printout of her reservations and puts them in
the desk drawer. She closes the program, shuts down the
computer and walks out of the room.

INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Ashley runs over to her hugging her legs. Alex walks out and
greets her with a smile. She kisses her on the cheek, lifts
her in the air and spins.

ALEX
We're going to Amsterdam Sweetie.

INT. KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS

Alex opens the refrigerator door and grabs the last cold
Starbuck's coffee drink.

Ashley reaches for it wanting some. Alex stops her.

ALEX
You can't have coffee, you're too little.

Ashley gives her a dirty look and runs off.

ALEX
Oohh Little Luv, you're too cute.

INT. LIVING ROOM - SAME MOMENT

Alex enters from kitchen and sits down on the couch. She
picks up the cordless phone and dials Angelica.

ALEX
Hey, Guess what I just did?

EXT. ANGELICA'S PATIO - SAME MOMENT

Angelica, smoking a cigarette, takes a sip of her coffee,
phone to her ear.

ANGELICA
(taking deep breathe)
Don't tell me, you made contact with
Mitch in some se'ance.

ALEX V.O.
(laughing)
No, but that might happen.

ANGELICA
What?!

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Alex looks at the printout in her hand.

ALEX
I just booked tickets to Amsterdam.

EXT. ANGELICA'S PATIO - SAME MOMENT

Angelica takes a hit from her smoke.

ANGELICA
If you just wanted to get stoned, I could
have called Larry.

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Alex shakes her head.

ALEX
No, I'm going on a pilgramage to Our Lady
of All Nations.

EXT. ANGELICA'S PATIO - SAME MOMENT

She sips her coffee.

ANGELICA
Our Lady of All What? Listen, I'm coming
over.

Angelica hangs up the phone laughing to herself.

ANGELICA
Amsterdam, hmmm...that sounds like fun.
She's crazy! I have to go with her.

She stamps out her smoke in the ashtray, gets up and exits.
Adventurous music.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. FT. LAUDERDALE - AFTERNOON

Cars drive by.

Angelica pulls into the parking lot of a coffee shop.

Serpent glides by.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - HOUR LATER

Alex is packing her suitcase. She is running frantically
trying to find Ashley's favorite toy. A knock at the door
can be heard.

ALEX
(shouts out)
Coming.
(to herself)
Shoot, where's that toy?!

She runs over and answers the door. Angelica walks in
holding her extra large cup of iced coffee.

ANGELICA
So I've been doing a lot of thinking and
I've decided, I'm going with you.

ALEX
Really, tickets are only $800.

They hug and walk into the living area, taking a seat on the
black leather couch.

ANGELICA
$800?...when are you leaving?

Ashley runs over and Angelica lifts her, kissing her
forehead.

ANGELICA
Hey beautiful. You look so cute today,
Ashley.

Ashley laughs.

ALEX
Tomorrow.

ANGELICA
Tomorrow? How the hell am I gonna come
up with $800 dollars by tomorrow?

ALEX
(jokingly)
Don't you know any guys with credit
cards?

Angelica takes her serious for the moment and gestures for
the phone.

ANGELICA
Actually, give me your phone.

Alex hands it to her, Angelica dials, Alex laughs.

ANGELICA
Hey Joker it's Angel, what's up?
(pause)
So what are you doing tomorrow?
(pause)
Well, remember that favor you owe me?
Wanna take me to Amsterdam. We have a
place to stay free. We just have to get
there.
(pause)
Come on...come on. FINE. Gotta go, talk
to you later, bye.

She hangs up the phone and waves her hands as if to say
that's all I know.

ALEX
You're crazy, I was just kidding. Do you
know anyone else?

ANGELICA
No, I tried. So what's a pilgramage?

ALEX
You know, when you make a spiritual
journey to a Holy place.

ANGELICA
I know of a great church right down the
street.

Alex laughs.

ALEX
Amsterdam houses the shrine, I've been
dreaming about...that's why I'm going
there.

ANGELICA
You're gonna travel internationally alone
with a baby during these times? What
about the terrorists?

ALEX
I know God will protect us.

ANGELICA
Alex, are you sure this is safe?

ALEX
I need to do this, Angelica. I have
nothing in my life right now but these
visions. I have to find out what they
mean.
(breaks down)
These have been the worst six months of
my life, Angel. I don't know if I'm
coming or going. I'm so depressed, I
just need to get out here.

ANGELICA
You just moved here.

ALEX
No, I mean out of Florida, out of the
United States.

Tears rise in Angelica's eyes as they hug. Ashley runs over
and Alex picks her up.

ANGELICA
I'll be praying for you. Call me the
second you get there.

ALEX
I will, promise.

Angelica kisses the baby goodbye.

ANGELICA
(to Ashley)
You're gonna be a world traveler by two
and I still haven't left this country.

Alex laughs.

ALEX
See you soon, Angel.

Angelica waves good-bye as she exits.

EXT. BEACH - AFTERNOON

The sun shines, enhancing the colors of the ocean overlooking
the Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Upbeat, yet soothing music dances
around the scene.

People are laying out while others build sand castles.

Alex can be seen in the distance, holding Ashley in her arms,
walking along the shore. The surf crashes against her feet.

Alex takes a seat on the beach and lets Ashley play in the
sand in front of her. People walk by gesturing how cute the
baby is. Alex digs into her pocket and pulls out the Lady of
All Nations prayer card. She traces over the rays of light
coming from Mary's hands.

ALEX V.O.
Grace, Redemption, and Peace.

Alex drifts off into thought drinking in the sight of the
ocean.

Alex sees the Virgin Mary's face dissolve over the ocean.

Mary holds up a crucifix.

VIRGIN MARY
You will preserve in peace if you believe
in Him.

Ashley slaps her leg bringing her back into reality. She
looks down at Ashley and talks to her as if she was much
older.

ALEX
You know Ashley, when we go to Holland,
you're gonna see Daddy again. I know Our
Lady of All Nations will do it. Then
everything will be fine, you'll see.
Mommy will be all better then, I promise.

The cell phone in her pocket rings, interrupting their
conversation. Alex pulls it from her pocket, sees that it is
Dr. Barrenger. Alex looks at her watch, freaks out then
answers the phone.

ALEX
Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I'm on my way.

DR. BARRENGER V.O.
Wait, I'm not at the office.

ALEX
Can I still see you?

DR. BARRENGER V.O.
I'm at the park, so it'll have to be in
there.

ALEX
Sounds good to me, see you soon.

She hangs up the phone. Putting it away, they hurry off the
beach.

The sound of a slithering snake hisses by.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. PARK- HOUR LATER

Palm trees blow in the cool breeze. Sound of birds, squirrels
scurry through the trees.

Setting footpath through trees, Alex and DR. BARRENGER, a
middle aged Slovakian, dressed in a pair of cacky's and a
pull over, speaks.

DR. BARRENGER
So what's going on Alex?

ALEX
Well, I'm going to Amsterdam tomorrow.

DR. BARRENGER
Why didn't you tell me about this last
week?

ALEX
Cause I just bought the tickets today.

DR. BARRENGER
Slow down Alex, just slow down.

Alex stops walking.

ALEX
I know this must sound crazy, but I
really believe in my heart, this is what
I need to do.

DR. BARRENGER
The death of a spouse is a tragedy. And
during these times people tend to make
irrational decisions. There is no method
or formula to help a person cope with
such loss. Time and prayer is what
heals, Alex.

ALEX
Exactly, I am going there to spend my
time in prayer.

DR. BARRENGER
You can pray here. You don't have to fly
half way around the world. And what
about Ashley?

ALEX
I am taking her with me. It will be
fine.

DR. BARRENGER
Listen Alex, I neither agree nor
disagree. I am just your Psychiatrist.
I take in information, organize it in a
way to help you see the truth, and
present it back to you. You ultimately
make whatever decision you want. All I
can do is hope for the best. How are you
doing on your pills? Do you need more?

ALEX
I ran out a couple of days ago.

A look of understanding strikes Barrenger's face.

DR. BARRENGER
I told you when I prescribed them to you
Alex, these pills have to be taken
everyday. Now you're booking trips to
Amsterdam.

ALEX
Okay, fine...I need some for the trip.

DR. BARRENGER
What time is your flight?

Barrenger writes down the prescription on a note pad and
hands it to her.

ALEX
Thanks. Early Afternoon.

DR. BARRENGER
I'll call in a reorder for you, but
listen Alex, you really need to get this
prescription filled. It is not a good
idea to go for too long without taking
them, at least during these stages of
your development.

ALEX
How much longer until I'm fixed Doc.?

DR. BARRENGER
That's up to you, Alex.

Dr. Barrenger continues their walk.

DR. BARRENGER
What do you plan on accomplishing there?

ALEX
I really feel Mary will reveal to us,
Mitch. I get signs in my dreams. They
are so real, I sometimes can't tell if I
am dreaming or awake. I need to make
this pilgrimage, Dr. Barrenger. It's in
my destiny, so I can put this behind me.

Kids play in the distant playground.

Barranger stops walking.

DR. BARRENGER
So are you ready to head back yet?

ALEX
Yeah.

They turn around and head back.

ALEX
You know there is something that happens
to me a lotta times that I can't control.

DR. BARRENGER
The headaches?

ALEX
Yes, but also I go through weird mood
swings. Out of nowhere I'll just get
this instant urge to clean the house.
The baby has woken up on many occasions
to the sound of the vacuum at three in
the morning.

DR. BARRENGER
That's another sign of depression.

ALEX
I feel things too Dr. Barrenger.

DR. BARRENGER
What do you mean?

ALEX
This may sound crazy but I believe Mitch
is trying to tell me that Ashley is going
to die.

Barrenger remains silent.

ALEX
Well, it's like I feel a familiar
presence creep up behind me. I've seen
Ashley's face, bloody, in my dreams.
Mitch is trying to break through but
can't. He has something to tell me.

DR. BARRENGER
How do you know it's Mitch?

ALEX
I just know.

DR. BARRENGER
It sounds to me like you suffer from a
mild case of delirium. Delirium opens
you up to hallucinations. These can be
familiar thoughts which circulate in your
mind, manifesting before you. The power
of thought is heightened at these
moments.

ALEX
How do we fix this? Because after I have
an experience like this, I completely
break down, and I can feel everyone
staring at me. I end up grabbing Ashley
and running out of where ever we happen
to be.

DR. BARRENGER
As long as you are aware of what you are
doing, and you are not harming another
person or yourself, then continue to seek
the truth and when you find it, you will
be healed. That is what I believe as a
human being. My professional advice is
very much the same.

ALEX
And what is your professional advice Dr.
Barrenger?

DR. BARRENGER
It's a chemical balance. Your's is
swinging back to the harmony you once
felt, it just takes time.

ALEX
Thank you.

DR. BARRENGER
May God Bless you and Ashley, Alex. You
can call me any time if you feel you need
to talk to me while you are out there.

ALEX
I will. Thanks again.

Dr. Barrenger waves good-bye as Alex pulls out of park.

The moon brightens the deep blue-black sky.

Sweeping through the streets of Ft. Lauderdale, ghost-like,
we enter upon Alex's bedroom window.

Serpent hisses, scary music.

EXT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Alex can be seen through the window, putting on her night
gown. Ashley is on the bed. Alex walks over and snuggles
into Ashley.

INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Alex is praying over Ashley.

ALEX
Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the
Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I
wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.
Amen.
(kissing Ashley)
Good night, Sweety. May God Bless you
and your dreams.

They drift off to sleep.

Alarm clock reads, "12:02 AM".

INT. ALEX'S BEDROOM - THAT MOMENT

A dark figure inspirit form, MITCH, appears at the foot of
Alex's bed, a cold spirit wind sweeps through the air.

Alex wakes up to the chill in the air, sees her dead husband
gesturing for her to follow. Caught in this half world of
reality and spirit, Alex gets out of bed and follows Mitch to
the bathroom.

Mitch opens the side mirror, exposing the infinite realm. He
disappears into the mirrors. Alex's lost desiring look
permeates the room as she reaches out to touch the mirror.

In red written backwards, "snoitaN llA fo ydaL ruO".

Tears rise in Alex's eyes, longing for the other side.

ALEX V.O.
(echoes)
Our Lady of All Nations...

Flash image of the serpent strikes.

INT. ALEX'S BEDROOM - THAT MOMENT

Alex wakes up screaming, Ashley is gone.

Alex wakes up screaming, Ashley jumps in her sleep to the
sounds of her mother's weeping.

She comforts Ashley realizing her dream-state and cuddles her
back to sleep.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - LATER THAT NIGHT

The sound of the toilet being scrubbed is accompanied by
Alex's thoughts.

ALEX V.O.
This is crazy. I don't know...I don't
know if I should go or not, maybe that's

Alex is on her hands and knees, stops scrubbing the bottom of
the bowl to listen to the faint voices.

FAINT VOICES
(over and over)
Crush the serpent...crush the serpent...

FLASH: Serpent coils in strike position.

FLASH: Holy Eucharist dissolves into Monstras of Virgin Mary.

FLASH: Mary's face.

MARY
(echoes faintly)
Help me, Alex, to crush the serpent.

FLASH: Serpent strikes out.

Alex jumps back, falling into the wall. She curls up in
fetal position and cries like a baby.

CLOSE ON: Alex as images of her life flash before her eyes,
aligning her past to expose the present and give vision to
her future.

After the experience passes, Alex calmly gets up and walks
out of the bathroom.

INT. KITCHEN - HOURS LATER

The microwave reads, "3:30 AM", as moonlight pours through
reflecting off the Virgin Mary pictured in the window.

Another flush can be heard as Alex walks out of the bathroom
into the kitchen and puts away the cleaning supplies under
the sink.

She yawns gazing upon the time, grabs a drink from the
refrigerator, downs a large sip and walks out.

INT. BEDROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Ashley is fast asleep as Alex lays there with her eyes open.
We close in on her eyes as she shuts her lids.

INT. ALEX'S DREAM - CONTINUOUS

Emerging from the darkness, eyes of a crazed man and lips of
a sinister smile.

Heavy, slow, edgy music satisfies the soul. A male hand
grabs Alex's mouth forcing her back.

Her scream is muffled. Music intensifies.

FLASH: Serpent coiled about to strike, hiss.

FLASH: Person POV: Lost in a maze, can't get out.

FLASH: Holy music, Monk prays over bridge, with rosary in
hand and church in background.

FLASH: Alex approaches a candlehabra burning in the distance.
A haunted feeling comes across her as the music changes.

FLASH: Under the candles, Mary, crying tears of blood, with a
white veil draped over her head, holds Mitch's dead body, as
if she were holding her own Son in the pieta image.

Alex approaches.

ALEX V.O.
Mary, Mother of All Nations.

MARY
(gesturing)
Come closer, my child.

Alex approaches, eerie music guides her steps. Alex kneels
down in front of Mary.

ALEX
(cries out)
NOooo...how can we save his soul, Mother?

MARY
We are here, in the darkness, to find
you.

ALEX
Is Mitch okay?

Mary's eyes, welcoming and caring, as Mitch disappears and is
replaced by a crusifix.

ALEX
How do I escape the darkness?

The image fades as Alex is struck in sadness.

INT. BEDROOM - SAME MOMENT

Alex wakes up screaming once again.

ALEX
(screaming in a trans)
Noooo...

Ashley sits up crying.

ALEX
What's wrong? Honey, I didn't mean to
scare you.

Alex hugs Ashley, looks at the clock, reads, "7:00 AM.".

ALEX
Time to get up, gotta pack.

Alex rolls out of bed, Ashley runs after her.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. ALEX'S PATIO - EARLY MORNING

The sun rises as a television set tuned into the news can be
heard.

NEWSREPORTER V.O.
Today in Rome the Pope issued an order of
traveling Monks to investigate Marian
shrines. Until this date the order had
been investigating Eucharistic Miracles.

INT. KITCHEN - MOMENTS LATER

Alex is fixing Ashley's breakfast. Ashley is in her high
chair at the table.

ALEX V.O.
Travelling monks, that sounds funny.

She finishes preparing the food and walks it over to Ashley,
placing it on her tray.

Alex walks over and truns the T.V. off.

ALEX
For not getting any sleep last night, I
don't feel half bad.

Ashley looks up from her breakfast. Alex cleans up her
daughter's mess she left on floor.

INT. ALEX'S CLOSET - MOMENTS LATER

Alex walks in and grabs a pair of jeans off the hanger. The
door bell rings.

ALEX
(putting on her jeans)
I'M COMING.

She answers the door. The MAIL MAN is holding a box.

MAIL MAN
Alex Murphy?

ALEX
Yes.

MAIL MAN
This is for you.

He hands her the package.

MAIL MAN (CONT'D)
I just need you to sign here.

He hands her the clipboard as she takes the pen and signs.

ALEX
Thank you very much.

The mail man leaves as Alex walks into the kitchen with the
package. She puts it on the table and opens the box. She
smiles as she pulls out her plane ticket to Amsterdam. Below
the ticket are pamphlets of different attractions.

She brings the ticket to her heart and jumps up and down with
a smile that brightens the room.

ALEX
(to Ashley)
We're going to Amsterdam.

Alex scans over the Lady of All Nations Shrine brochure.

ALEX (CONT'D)
Listen to this Ashley, this place of
grace called "a hidden Bethlehem" is
where Mary revealed herself! And I know
the Lady of All Nations will let daddy
speak to me...

Ashley looks at her mother with concerned eyes.

ALEX
(squeezing her face)
Don't worry, love. Everything will be
ok.

Ashley laughs and gets excited. Alex picks Ashley up and
squeezes her.

ALEX (CONT'D)
I gotta finish packing! We only have a
few hours.

Montage Sequence: Upbeat music. Alex grabs Ashley's blue
snake skin suitcase and opens it on her bed.

She holds up different outfits as Ashley claps for the ones
she wants. Alex throws them in.

Alex zips it up and sets it by the front door.

Alex is going through her closet, pulling out different
outfits. She poses in front of the mirror, holding the
outfits to her body.

Alex brushes her teeth, puts on make-up and changes her
shirt. She looks in the mirror and smiles as she gets on the
phone and dials a number.

VOICE OVER PHONE
Taxi.

ALEX
Hi, um I need a taxi from Coral Springs
to the Ft. Lauderdale International
Airport. Twenty minutes? Ok great...Yes
that's my address, see you then.

She hangs up the phone and grabs Ashley.

ALEX
(to Ashley)
We'll be on our way to Holland in twenty
minutes. I can't wait.

The door bell rings as Alex runs for the door, grabs the
luggage and Ashley and closes the door behind her. The sound
of the door locks as adventurous music kicks in.

CUT TO:

EXT. FT. LAUDERDALE AIRPORT - MOMENTS LATER

Cars shuffle by as people walk in and out of the airport.

INT. AIRPORT - MOMENTS LATER

Through the glass window, Alex's plane sits waiting to take
off.

ALEX
That plane's going to take us to daddy!
You miss daddy don't you. I love you.
We'll see daddy soon. I promise.

Alex touches the glass and Ashley copies her.

ALEX
See you soon Mitch.

CUT TO:

EXT. SKY - MOMENTS LATER

An airplane passes through.

INT. PLANE - SAME MOMENT

Ashley is sitting on Alex's lap as she gazes out the window
thinking about her husband.

ALEX V.O.
I wonder what will happen at the Shrine.
I wonder what Mary will show us, what
will Mitch say?

We enter Alex's thoughts.

DREAM SEQUENCE: Mitch and Alex first date, Mitch hands Alex
rose.

Walking down the beach holding hands, Mitch and Alex without
a care in the world.

INT. PLANE - SAME MOMENT

Alex still gazing upon the clouds below smiles.

ALEX V.O. (CONT'D)
Mitch was always so thoughtful and
loving.

We reenter her thoughts.

INT. HOSPITAL - MEMORY

The moans of Alex giving birth fade in. We see Ashley born
and Alex happy, relieved.

Ashley getting weighted in hospital.

ALEX V.O. (CONT'D)
That was the happiest day of our lives.
Mitch always said she's be the first
female president.

INT. PLANE - SAME MOMENT

Alex still lost in thought, smiles.

We reenter her thoughts for the final time.

INT. MITCH/ALEX'S HOUSE - MEMORY

Mitch on his last day alive, waking for breakfast, then
leaving in his jeep for groceries.

Clock reads 12:43pm.

Alex, irritated, waves Mitch out the door.

ALEX V.O.
I never said good-bye.

INT. PLANE - SAME MOMENT

Sullenly, Alex stares out the window with Ashley asleep at
her side.

FADE TO BLACK.

INT. PLANE - HOURS LATER

Alex is sleeping in the aisle seat. Ashley squirms then
finds her position. As the flight attendant walks by, Alex,
below her speaking voice in her sleep.

ALEX
Noo...

We follow the faded "no" into darkness.

BLACKNESS.

EXT. AMSTERDAM - DREAM

Trippy religious images of Amsterdam.

A monk walking through Amsterdam praying over city.

Alex running through the streets of Amsterdam confused.

EXT. DARK SKY - NIGHT

Time passes through, as wind passes the moon. Night life in
the cities, Red Light District, can be heard.

INT. PLANE - SAME MOMENT

Alex jumps up, scaring the baby.

ALEX
I'm sorry Sweetie. Mommy loves.

She squeezes her, holding her pressed to her heart. Over the
PA system, the pilot speaks.

PILOT V.O.
We have another hour and twenty minutes
before we land in our final destination
to Amsterdam.

Alex gets comfortable in her seat and dozes off again.

FADE TO BLACK.

INT. ALEX'S DREAM - SAME MOMENT

Alex's hands frantically pop open a bottle of pills and pours
them into her hands. Her hand is shaking a mile a minute as
she tries to control it.

Suspenseful, heart beating music charges forth.

She is crazed. Her blood shot eyes water as her wet dreds
stab into her face.

From the floor POV: Her state of delirium is its furthest.

The word "Suicide" echoes within the crescendo death
orchestrated melody.

Ashley wakes crying, snapping Alex from her delirium.

ASHLEY
Maaaaaaaa!

The pills fly out of her hands and into the camera lens.

INT. PLANE - THAT MOMENT

Alex jumps up as the pilot says over the PA.

PILOT V.O.
Please fasten your seat belts and remain
in your seats for the landing.

Alex sits up and looks out the window, tears fill her eyes.

ALEX
Hear that Ashley? Couple more minutes
and we'll be there!

EXT. AMSTERDAM - AFTERNOON

Flash images of the city of Amsterdam and of Holland dance to
the beat within the music. Flashing lights. Colorful bright
scenes.

Trollies drive next to cars, as bicycle riders share the
road. The sounds of the city fill the air, church bells.

CUT TO:

EXT. ALEX'S HOTEL - AFTERNOON

Alex looks up at the name of the hotel, looks down at her
piece of paper with the name and address printed on it, and
walks in holding Ashley around her hip.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - CONTINUOUS

Alex holds Ashley as she climbs up the 4 flights of towering
stairs.

ALEX
Oh my God! I think you gained some
weight on the plane Ashley.

Alex arrives at her room door.

ALEX (CONT'D)
Here we are.

Alex unlocks the door and looks up the last flight of stairs.

ALEX (CONT'D)
I hope this is the last set.

INT. HOTEL ROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Alex closes the door behind her and throws her luggage on the
bed. She crashes with Ashley down on the bed.

ALEX
Should we unpack? Let's do it later. Oh
I'm tired.

Ashley cries.

ALEX
Ashley, what baby? You're tired too?

Alex lifts her up and gives her a kiss on the cheek.

The light pours through the room transforming the darkness.

ALEX
Let's get some food at the grocery store,
then we'll come home and eat. Alright
Sweetie? Just let mommy lay here for ten
minutes.

Ashley climbs down from the bed and runs into the kitchen.

ALEX
Ashley, where are you going? Don't get
into anything.

ASHLEY
Aahhhhh!

ALEX
Food, I know, I know.

She quickly unpacks everything from the suitcases, opens
windows, and looks out at her view of the canal as she puts
up rosaries.

In fast motion, she puts every thing in its place from the
toothbrush to the baby's toys and food, upbeat music.

She stands at the foot of the bed, glaring at the cozy
atmosphere she added to the room.

INT. LOFT - SAME MOMENT

Alex climbs ladder to loft.

ALEX
Look at this Ashley! We've got a loft.
Oh wow, this is cool! But it's not safe
for you.

Ashley puts on her rosary

ALEX
Oh you put your rosary on!

Ashley starts to climb the ladder.

ALEX
No, it's not safe for you to climb up.

ASHLEY
Ga-Goo!

Ashley climbs into loft. Alex grabs her from the top step.

ALEX
Isn't it cool up here? But time to get
down.

Alex carries Ashley back down and takes ladder down.

CUT TO:

EXT. AMSTERDAM - MID-DAY

A panoramic view of the city is blended with warm colors from
the rising sun. Movement through the city, parks, everything
is waking up.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - THAT MOMENT

The television is turned on as Ashley plays on the floor with
some toys, occasionally distracted by what is on the screen.

She picks up the phone with the phone book spread open on her
lap. She dials the number and waits anxiously during its
ringing.

ALEX
Hello, Hi my name is Alex Murphy. I live
in the United States, but I am here
making a pilgrimage to your chapel. I
wanted to know if there is a priest that
I can meet with today. I am with my two
year old daughter and I promise not to
take up too much of his time...Oh, I see.

She changes positions on the bed.

ALEX
A monk? Um...okay, I mean if that is who
you recommend...I'll hold on.

She turns to Ashley and covers up the phone with her other
hand.

ALEX
We're gonna meet a Monk Ashley.

She quickly puts the phone to her ear.

ALEX
Yes, I'm still here...Great, I'll be
there in a few minutes. Thank you... oh
where do I meet him?

She hangs up the phone excitedly and runs over and picks up
the baby.

ALEX
They hung up, well hopefully this Monk
will tell us what to do, so we can see
daddy. You think? Ready to go? Let's
go! Where's your shoes?

She picks Ashley up, grabs the diaper bag and opens latch.

ALEX
Our Lady of All Nations here we come!

CUT TO:

EXT. STREETS OF AMSTERDAM - SAME MOMENT

Alex and Ashley walk to the train station.

INT. TRAIN - MOMENTS LATER

Alex tries to sooth Ashley on first train ride.

EXT. TRAIN STOP - MOMENTS LATER

Alex stands by the train stop, holding Ashley waiting for the
train. It approaches in the distance.

ALEX
(to Ashley)
We're going to the shrine. Aren't you
excited little love?

ASHLEY
Aaaaa...

Ashley grabs Alex's necklace.

ALEX
Look Ashley, Our Lady of All Nations
looks just like Mary on the Miraculous
Medal!

She embraces her daughter as the train comes to a stop in
front of them. She gets on and finds a seat.

INT. TRAIN MOMENTS LATER

Alex keeps her forehead pressed to the glass and stares into
the city.

She drops her head into Ashley's and snuggles in. Ashley
sits on the seat next to her, leaning her head against her
mother's.

EXT. GARDENS - SAME MOMENT

Monk praying through garden archway on his way to the shrine.

EXT. GARDEN- MOMENTS LATER

Alex and Ashley run through rainy park trying to find the
shrine.

Alex and Ashley exhausted, rest on a bench next to steel
fists punching the air.

ALEX V.O.
Where is this place? It was suppose to
be just a short walk through the park
from the train station. I hope we're not
lost.
(to Heaven)
Mary, please help me!

EXT. CHAPEL OF THE LADY OF ALL NATIONS - MOMENTS LATER

Alex walks past the gate and enters the chapel.

ALEX V.O.
Finally, thank God.

INT. CHAPEL OF THE LADY OF ALL NATIONS - MOMENTS LATER

Painting, Mary's arms spread below her waist, as she stands
on top of the earth.

BROTHER WOLF, a monk dressed in a black-brown hooded gown,
kneels praying before the painting.

BROTHER WOLF
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father,
send now Your Spirit over the earth.
Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of
all nations, that they may be preserved
from degeneration, disaster and war. May
the Lady of All Nations, who once was
Mary, be our Advocate. Amen.

Alex and Ashley walk in.

FLASHBACK: Heart pounding music plays over, black and white,
slow-motion image of the Monk from her dreams.

Alex snaps out of it as the Monk making the sign of the
cross, rises from his knees and exits.

Alex walks up to the shrine and kneels down to say a prayer.
Ashley gets fussy and wiggles free of Alex's arms.

Alex picks her up and goes to find the monk.

EXT. CHAPEL OF THE LADY OF ALL NATIONS - MOMENTS LATER

Alex confronts two guys.

ALEX V.O.
Did you see the monk?

No response.

FLASH: Snake slithers by.

She walks away looking for the way into the grotto. She
pears over the wall into the backyard of the shrine.
Confused she searches for the monk around the corner.

Seconds later, the monk comes out of the shrine, looking for
Alex and chases after her around the corner.

EXT. BEATRIX PARK - MOMENTS LATER

Alex enters the park walking past two lion pillars into a
beautiful garden.

The monk follows catching up to Alex. Music subsides.

EXT. GROTTO - SAME MOMENT

Alex sees the Monk.

ALEX
Excuse me! Is this the grotto for Our
Lady of All Nations? I'm looking for
Brother Wolf.

BROTHER WOLF
You must be Alex Murphy.

ALEX
Yes.

The Monk pulls the hood off his head and holds out his hand
as Alex shakes it.

MONK
I'm Brother Wolf, you must be Alex
Murphy.

He releases her hand.

ALEX
Nice to meet you Brother Wolf.

BROTHER WOLF
So, how can I help you today, Ms. Murphy?

ALEX
Oh, you can call me Alex.

BROTHER WOLF
Okay Alex.

Ashley smiles at him as he gently palms her head.

Brother Wolf crouches down and looks Ashley in the eyes.

BROTHER WOLF
You are a very beautiful little girl,
Ashley.

Ashley's POV: Brother Wolf's long dark hair cradles his high
cheek bones and chiseled face, exposing his intense friendly
hazel eyes.

Brother Wolf walks beside Alex and Ashley as they slowly
approach a little pond fountain.

BROTHER WOLF
So Linda, the receptionist, said you are
here on some kind of pilgrimage?

ALEX
Yeah, that's kinda what I wanted to talk
to a priest about.

BROTHER WOLF
Yeah, she had mentioned you originally
asked for a priest, so if you do not feel
comfortable talking to me, I understand.
A priest will be available later.

ALEX
No it's fine. It just seems like every
time I expect something to happen, it
turns out different than what I expected.

BROTHER WOLF
Welcome to the wonderful world of God.

She laughs.

BROTHER WOLF
Would you like to go for a walk and talk?

She nods her head.

BROTHER WOLF (CONT'D)
I can show you around since you are not
from here. Have you ever been here
before? I suppose I should have asked
you before I assumed you haven't.

ALEX
No, that's fine. You were correct, I
have never been here before. And I would
like it very much, if you showed me and
Ashley around.

BROTHER WOLF
Great. Let me get my things.

Brother Wolf hurries back to shrine, Alex and Ashley wait.

Brother Wolf returns and they walk out of the garden together
past the lion pillars, past a stream, to behind the house of
the apparitions.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. IDA'S PEERDE MAN'S HOUSE -MOMENTS LATER

Walking up to the threshold, Brother Wolf points to a window.

BROTHER WOLF O.S.
That is where Mary appeared to Ida
Peerdeman in March of 1945.

Close up on Alex face as she crosses herself.

ALEX
Why can't we go in? It seems so unfair,
I've come all this way.

BROTHER WOLF
The sisters who live here ask for their
privacy.

Alex nods understanding.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
Would you like to go for a walk?

ALEX V.O.
Lead the way.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. AMSTERDAM - AFTERNOON

Aerial shot of Amsterdam as we pan through the trees finding
Alex, Ashley and Brother Wolf walking down the street.

ALEX
You know I got the weirdest feeling at
the shrine.

BROTHER WOLF
I'm not surprised.

ALEX
Why aren't we aloud in the grotto?

BROTHER WOLF
I don't know. The public should have
access to the grotto. The religious
order watching the shrine are not
Dominicans.

ALEX
What do you mean?

BROTHER WOLF
Well, Mary told Ida Peerdeman, she wanted
the Dominicans to be the caretakers of
the Image and the Chapel.
Ida even became a 3rd order Dominican to
follow Mary's request. But the bishop of
this new group has had problems with the
law in Italy. They aren't stressing the
crowning of Mary as Our Lady of All
Nations Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix and
Advocate and they aren't collecting
signatures for the petition of the 5th
Marian dogma to Rome! They've even gone
so far as to airbrush over the original
image, making Mary's stigmata barely
visible.

ALEX
How are they getting away with all this?

BROTHER WOLF
Well, it's a long process and I"m here
checking things out for Rome. They call
me the traveling monk.

Alex chuckles remembering the news report yesterday morning.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
How long have you been wearing the
Miraculous Medal?

She grabs the charm around her neck and squeezes it in her
hand.

ALEX
My grandmother was a devout Catholic and
she gave it to me when my grandfather
died five years ago. It was his. He had
it most of his life.

BROTHER WOLF
Yours is very nice. Are you familiar
with the history of the medal?

ALEX
St. Catherine Laboure received visions in
France of Mary as our Co-Redemptrix,
Mediatrix and Advocate. Seems to be the
same message of Our Lady of All Naions.

Brother Wolf looks over at her.

BROTHER WOLF
Yes the messages and image are the same!
The Marian era has ended here in
Amsterdam. Mary wants all the Nations to
join in peace.

ALEX
I remember my grandmother telling me
about the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart
of Mary. The serpents head will be
crushed by the foot of the Virgin Mary.

BROTHER WOLF
I actually believe that will happen when
the 5th dogma is passed. Have you ever
heard about the miracle of Amsterdam?

ALEX
No, what is it?

BROTHER WOLF
I'll show you. Come this way.

They turn the corner and approach the door to the Beginhof
church.

EXT. THE BEGIJNHOF - MOMENTS LATER

St. Ursula shines above the back doorway into Begijnhof.
Brother Wolf leads the way, up alley carrying Ashley, through
an open gateway into courtyard of Begijnhof.

ALEX
I think she's getting cold, can you help
me get her coat on her?

BROTHER WOLF
Sure.

Brother Wolf struggles to get Ashley's coat on her. Alex
laughs.

INT. THE BEGIJNHOF COURTYARD - CONTINUOUS

The courtyard is alive with quiet beauty. Brother Wolf leads
them around the courtyard, explaining the history of the
Miracle of Amsterdam, on their way to the entrance of the
secret chapel.

BROTHER WOLF
This is the Begijnhof Chapel that use to
house the relic of the Miracle of
Amsterdam. Back in 1345, an elderly man,
who was a devout Catholic, became
seriously ill in his house. He requested
from his family to receive Holy Viaticum.

Alex imagines what Brother Wolf describes.

FLASH: An elderly man receiving last sacrament.

ALEX
What is that?

BROTHER WOLF
The sacrament for the sick and dying.
After the priest performed the ceremony
and had given this man communion, and due
to his illness, he threw up the host.

FLASH: The old man throws up the host by the fire, very sick.

She looks over at him with a disturbed look in her eye.

BROTHER WOLF
The vomit was tossed into the fire place.
A common way of disposing of such things.
This occurred on Tuesday March 15th, 1345
right here in Amsterdam.

ALEX
So what's the big miracle Brother Wolf?

INT. CHAPEL - SAME MOMENT

Camera pans wooden images telling story of Miracle of
Amsterdam. Flashes in between, of stain glass windows,
depicting the Miracle of Amsterdam.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
The next day the nurse raked up the fire
and the Host appeared above the flames!
She grabbed the Host from the flames,
unharmed. It had kept its form and was
glowing with light.

Alex and Brother Wolf are looking up at the stain glass.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.(CONT'D)
A little over a hundred years later a
fire broke out, destroying the chapel but
the Host survived the flames again!

ALEX V.O.
It sounds like many people must have
visited here from around the world to see
this miracle.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
Oh yes, Amsterdam during these times was
known for its Blessing.
By the late half of the sixteenth
century, Catholics fell under
persecution. The chapel was tore down,
the relic destroyed and Catholics had to
go into hiding. Many practiced Mass in
secret chapels, transforming attics or
spare rooms. And to this day, Catholics
still hold the silent prayer procession
in honor of the Miracle of Amsterdam
every year on March 15th.

ALEX V.O.
I never knew Amsterdam had this much
religious history.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
Amsterdam is a very spiritual place.
Many people used to come here on
pilgrimages just as you are today.

A smile comes to Alex's lips as she looks around the chapel.
Gothic architecture fills the screen.

Brother Wolf is bowed in prayer.

ALEX V.O.
(to herself)
This is what Mary was trying to show me.

FLASH: Image of Sacred Heart statue of Jesus.

JESUS V.O.
He who eats and drinks Me, receives life

Thank you so much for sharing this place
with me.

BROTHER WOLF
You're very welcome. If you would like to
join me tonight, we will walk the silent
procession.

BROTHER WOLF
Eight o'clock.

ALEX
Perfect. After we go to the gardens I'll
go to the hotel, feed Ashley and meet you
here at eight.

Brother Wolf smiles.

BROTHER WOLF
It sounds like a plan.

They walk out.

EXT. AMSTERDAM - LATE AFTERNOON

The trams drive by, people ride their bikes, which all look
similar to the bike from The Wizard of Oz. Cars honk at the
on coming traffic.

CLOSE ON: The coat of arms of Amsterdam with the xxx.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
Perhaps the most important visitor was
Maximillian from Austria. He was the
Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and made
his pilgrimage to Amsterdam. He was
suddenly cured of his incurable disease.

ALEX
Wow!

BROTHER WOLF
Maximillian in his gratitude gave the
city of Amsterdam the priviledge to use
the Emperor's crown in the city's coat of
arms.

EXT. BOTANICAL GARDENS - MOMENTS LATER

People walk by as others enter.

INT. GARDENS - SAME MOMENT

The gardens stretch out as far as the eye can see, creating
different mazes to walk through.

Alex walks next to Brother Wolf who is carrying Ashley.

ALEX
This place is absolutely beautiful. I
can't believe how much I am falling in
love with Amsterdam. I don't want to go
back.

BROTHER WOLF
Where are you from in the United States?

ALEX
South Florida. You know where the
alligators and snakes hang out.

BROTHER WOLF
I heard it is tropical and humid there. I
have never been there myself.

ALEX
Well, if you ever decide to come, you'll
have a place to stay.

BROTHER WOLF
Well thank you Alex, I'll keep that in
mind.

They share a moment. Alex looks like she's about to say
something, but holds back.

Alex looks down at her watch.

ALEX (CONT'D)
Are you sure you don't need to get back?

BROTHER WOLF
No, go on.

ALEX
Well, I've been having a really hard time
ever since my husband died. I'm just
tired of living in the sadness. It won't
let me go.

BROTHER WOLF
I'm sorry to hear that Alex. Sometimes
in life we walk through a dark night of
the soul, but God is always with you.

ALEX
Ya, but I don't feel seperated from God,
because I have all these dreams of Our
Lady of All Nations.

BROTHER WOLF
You have dreams of our Lady?

ALEX
Yeah, also a lot of weird dreams too,and
you see that is why I'm here today
talking to you. I felt called to come
over here, but never imagined all this.

BROTHER WOLF
God sends people into our lives to help
us get through certain obstacles in life.

ALEX
I feel weird saying it out loud
especially to someone like you, but I
came here so Mary would show me and
Ashley, Mitch. I believed I was going to
get a vision of my family together again.
But now I don't know. I can never get
him back in this life. I need to move on
but it's hard.

BROTHER WOLF
Well, sometimes God needs to pull us from
our situations so we can take a look at
it from a far and see what He sees.

ALEX
Thank you Brother Wolf. You have been a
great inspiration to me whether you
realize it or not.

BROTHER WOLF
You're welcome, Alex. Sometimes all we
ever really need is someone who is
willing to listen. Alex, if you have a
minute, I would like to pray with you.

ALEX
Yes, that would be wonderful.

Brother Wolf looks around and sees the bench up ahead.

BROTHER WOLF
Let's sit on the bench.

They walk over and sit on the bench as Brother Wolf pulls out
his rosary and looks at the crucifix.

Brother Wolf pulls out Our Lady of All Nations Prayer Card.

Making the sign of the cross, he holds the prayer card for
Alex to read along. She smiles and pulls out her own.

BROTHER WOLF
In the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Alex makes the sign of the cross. Praying softly along with
Brother Wolf.

BROTHER WOLF
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father,
send now Your Holy Spirit over the earth.
Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of
all Nations, that they may be preserved
from degeneration, disaster and war. May
the Lady of All Nations, who once was
Mary, be our advocate!
Amen.

ALEX
In the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

BROTHER WOLF
Alex, this rosary was blessed at the
Shrine and I would like you to keep this
as a memory of your pilgrimage.

Alex is taken aback.

ALEX
Thank you so much, you don't know what
this means to me.

Alex takes the rosary to her breast, then kisses the crucifix
and slides in over her head.

BROTHER WOLF
Perfect, God Bless you Alex.

ALEX
God Bless you too.

She gives him a hug and exits with Ashley. Brother Wolf
exists shortly after.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - MOMENTS LATER

Alex is sitting at the table feeding Ashley.

Alex sitting at window praying rosary as Ashley plays.

FLASH: Images of Our Lady of All Nations in window.

Alex finishes prayer.

ALEX
What are you doing? You're too cute. I
love. Piggy back ride? No? Yes!

Alex gives Ashley piggy back ride to shower.

INT. HOTEL SHOWER - SAME MOMENT

Alex gives Ashley a shower/bath. She spells her name out
with foam letters.

ALEX
A*S*H*L*E*Y. Ashley!

Alex plays with Ashley's toys trying to cheer her up. Ashley
is not amused.

ASHLEY
A ga- A ga!

Ashley finishes and runs out of shower. Alex stays under the
water a few more minutes.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. BEGIJNHOF - 8:00 PM

Alex and Ashley wait under St. Ursula's image as Brother Wolf
walks up. He greets her with a smile.

BROTHER WOLF
Hey guys!

ALEX
Does it ever get dark here?

BROTHER WOLF
In the summer it doesn't get dark until
midnight.

They walk down a street towards the Holy Way.

ALEX
Wow!

BROTHER WOLF
There was something I wanted to tell you.

ALEX
Yeah?

BROTHER WOLF
The visionary Mary appeared to here, Ida
Peerdeman, said "Even though you might
not experience any miracles or have any
healings, I may promise you one
thing:..."

He pauses searching for the exact wording.

ALEX
What did she promise?

BROTHER WOLF
"...all of you will depart from the Lady
interiorly strengthened."

ALEX
I believe it Brother Wolf. I feel like
that. Which is a miracle within itself.
I feel a peace about me that I did not
know before. It's almost like I feel as
though I can move on. I will never
forget Mitch, but I can't continue to
live in his death because it's killing
me. I have to give him up to God and
move on with God's plan for my life.
Have faith he is safe with Mary, Jesus
and God the Father in Heaven.

BROTHER WOLF
Amen.

He smiles at her as he shows her the Heilegweg street sign.

BROTHER WOLF (CONT'D)
That sign means Holy Way. This is the
start of the procession.

Alex bows her head in prayer and starts down street,
oblivious to the construction and modern way the holy street
appears.

They walk silently in prayer.

EXT. AMSTERDAM ROKIN STREET - MOMENTS LATER

They reach the pillar and Brother Wolf stops Alex.

BROTHER WOLF (CONT'D)
This pillar marks the spot of the miracle
of Amsterdam.

Alex leans in and kisses the pillar offering up a silent
prayer.

Brother Wolf then leads Alex down a dark alley way to swing
back to the chapel.

BROTHER WOLF (CONT'D)
Well that was it!

ALEX
Wow, that was incredible.

EXT. BEGIJNHOF CHAPEL - MOMENTS LATER

Alex and Brother Wolf walk past chapel and to back door of
Begijnhof.

BROTHER WOLF
Well right outside this door is where we
started. Sorry that it rained on us.

ALEX
Thank you Brother Wolf, this was
wonderful.

BROTHER WOLF
Your welcome Alex. I'm glad I could meet
you. What are you guys doing tomorrow?

ALEX
I don't know. I don't know where to take
her.

BROTHER WOLF
There's this great little zoo called
Artis Zoo in Amsterdam. We could take
the canal bus there.

ALEX
That sounds perfect, call me in the
morning and we'll go. Thanks a lot
Brother Wolf.

BROTHER WOLF

ALEX

Alex leaves out the door with Ashley.

INT. HOTEL ROOM - SUNSET

Alex and Ashley cuddling on couch, Ashley falling asleep,
Alex in deep thought.

Alex dresses Ashley for bed and hops into bed with her.

CLOSE IN: Alex's eyes shut into darkness.

Ashley asleep on the bed. In the mirror a dark figure can be
seen.

The monk is praying in front of the window.

Snake slithers in, eerie music.

The monk's hand comes across sleeping Ashley.

Ashley wakes and crawls out of bed, Alex lay fast asleep.

The monk quickly walks down the stairs. Ashley's voice
screaming.

Snake hissing sound.

CUT TO:

EXT. WOODS - NEXT DREAM MOMENT

Alex runs through the woods calling out for Ashley.

Heartbeat and heavy footsteps run through maze.

CUT TO:

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - SUNSET MIDNIGHT

Alex jumps up from a deep sleep and sees Ashley out like a
light.

She brings her hand to her heart and stares down at her
daughter. A tear falls from her eye.

She kisses her on her head and rolls out of bed.

She takes "Our Lady of All Nations" book over to the window
and sits on the couch to read.

EXT. SUN - MORNING

Sun shines into Alex's hotel.

INT. HOTEL - MORNING

Alex is feeding Ashley breakfast as she gets on the phone and
dials Angelica.

ALEX
Angelica?

EXT. ANGELICA'S APARTMENT COMPLEX - NIGHT, SAME MOMENT

Angelica's blue car pulls in as she reaches over for the
phone.

INT. CAR - SAME MOMENT

She getting out of the car, dressed as if she went to a night
club.

ANGELICA
Oh My God! Why haven't you called? How's
everything going?

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - SAME MOMENT

Angelica, phone to her ear.

ALEX
Everything is going great! Yep, well,
ya, we went to the shrine.

ANGELICA V.O.
How was that?

ALEX
It was interesting. I'll have to tell
you everything when I get back. Well one
good thing came out of it, I met this
really cool monk.

EXT. ANGELICA'S COMPLEX - SAME MOMENT

She walks through a lit stairwell.

ANGELICA
A what?

ALEX V.O.
Yeah! A monk...

ANGELICA
Is he cute?
(gesturing)
Did you sleep with him?

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - SAME MOMENT

Stands by the bed.

ALEX
No, no, I met him at the shrine. He took
me around, sort of like a tour guide,
showing me all the religious stuff of
Amsterdam. It was so cool!

EXT. ANGELICA'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Angelica walks through a dark forest following a cement path.

ANGELICA
So besides the religious tour guide,
how's everything else going?

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - SAME MOMENT

Alex walks over to the counter.

ALEX
Everything has been going really well.
Wait hold on a second... Hello?

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
Hello, may I please speak to Alex Murphy?

ALEX
Hi Brother Wolf!

INT. ROOM - SAME MOMENT

Brother Wolf is in the phone.

BROTHER WOLF
Hi Alex, would you like to meet me in
front of St. Nikolas in a half hour.
We'll take the canal bus to Artis Zoo.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - SAME MOMENT

Alex, surprised but holds her cool.

ALEX
A half hour? No problem, we'll see you
there, bye.

She clicks back over.

ALEX
Hello? Oh my God, that was him.

EXT. ANGELICA'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Angelica walks up a flight of stairs, turns the key and opens
her door.

ANGELICA
What's gonna happen? Are you gonna go on
a date?

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - SAME MOMENT

Alex laughs, feeds Ashley.

ALEX
What? Well, I'm meeting him, he's taking
us to the zoo.

INT. ANGELICA'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Angelica plops down in her chair.

ANGELICA
The zoo, ha? You gonna get dirty with
the monk and animals?

Cracking up at her own joke.

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - SAME MOMENT

Alex shakes her head in disbelief.

ALEX
You are bad! He's taking us to the zoo.
He's in love with Ashley. Alright, well
I just wanted to check in with you and
let you know everything is ok.

EXT. ANGELICA'S PATIO - SAME MOMENT

Angelica, phone to her ear, lighting a cigarette.

ANGELICA
When are you leaving?

ALEX V.O.
Probably a couple more days. I just
needed this time to get away, so I'm
gonna milk it for all it's worth.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - SAME MOMENT

Alex cuts it off.

ALEX
Alright, I'll call you again. Love you,
bye.

ANGELICA V.O.
Bye.

Alex takes some bites of egg and hangs up the phone.

EXT. ANGELICA'S PATIO - THAT MOMENT

Angelica puffs on her smoke thinking about the conversation.
She laughs to herself.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - THAT MOMENT

Alex turns to Ashley.

ALEX
(to Ashley)
Oh. Are you ready to go to the zoo?
What do you think of the monk Ashley?

No response.

ALEX
He seems like a nice guy.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. ST. NICKOLAS CHURCH - MOMENTS LATER

People shuffle by.

INT. ST. NICKOLAS CHURCH - SAME MOMENT

Alex says a quick prayer before meeting Brother Wolf. Ashley
gets restless.

ALEX V.O.
Dear Lord Jesus, fill me with your body
and blood, soul and divinity. Give me
your strength to do Your will for my
life. Thank you for bringing Brother
Wolf into our lives.

EXT. BOAT DOCK - MOMENTS LATER

Alex and Ashley waiting at boat dock in front of St. Nickolas

Brother Wolf approaches.

Hey!

Brother Wolf picks up Ashley.

BROTHER WOLF
Hey Sweetie! Sorry I'm late.

ASHLEY
Aahhhhhh!

BROTHER WOLF
I think she wants her mommy.

He hands her to Alex.

ALEX
(to Ashley)
It's ok.

BROTHER WOLF V.O.
I think she's gonna love the zoo!

Boat leaves dock and heads down canal.

ALEX V.O.
This will be her first time.

First exhibit monkeys. Ashley squeals that she can't see and
Alex picks her up for better view.

You see the lion? He's getting up!

Brother Wolf carries Ashley on his shoulders to the
elephants.

It's gorgeous, I can't believe how much
I'm falling in love with Amsterdam.

Brother Wolf leads Ashley to the giraffe.

She loves it.

I haven't gotten to try mine yet. One

Hey sweetie. Is that for me?

Ashley offers some food to Brother Wolf.

INT. ARTIS ZOO - AFTER LUNCH

The bears are doing silly things, but Ashley is not
impressed.

ALEX
Oh, there he goes!
(to Ashley)
Do you want some water?

ASHLEY
AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

Alex ignores Ashley's screams and tries to get her to focus
on bears.

ALEX
The bear is sunbathing. Look Ashley.

Ashley upset, tries to feed Alex her water bottle.

ALEX
Mmmm. Thank you.

Ashley screams. Alex moves on to hippo exhibit, Brother Wolf
takes Ashley in his arms.

ALEX V.O.
What do you think of the hippo? He went
under the water, where did he go?

BROTHER WOLF
Ashley look at the hippo. Bet you don't
find those in Florida Alex!

Alex laughs.

Brother Wolf carries Ashley across the bridge to a little
playground.

BROTHER WOLF
Would you like to go to the park?

ALEX
She'd love it.

EXT. PARK - SAME MOMENT

Brother Wolf puts Ashley on the slide.

(to Ashley)
Come here!

Ashley slides down to Alex standing at the bottom.

I've been having all these weird dreams

Paranoia stuff mostly, Ashley being taken
from me. In my dream last night, you took

you love will be taken from you after the
loss of your husband. It must be hard on

dreams.

EXT. MUIDEN - EARLY MORNING

Alex and Ashley walk along sidewalk to castle.

Brother Wolf takes Ashley up on his shoulders.

ALEX V.O.
Oh I love the castle over there! Ashley
look it's your fairy tale castle!

BROTHER WOLF
This is the city of Muiden. It's over
1000 years old!

ALEX V.O.
Beautiful.

BROTHER WOLF
Ready?

ALEX V.O.
Yeah!

Brother Wolf, Alex and Ashley walk through entryway into
castle grounds.

Ashley excitedly runs toward castle. Rain starts to drizzle
down as Alex scoops Ashley up and Brother Wolf joins them as
they walk the bridge into castle.

Cold, windy and rainy, Ashley is in good spirits running
around courtyard, checking out the big cement balls.

Alex takes Ashley into castle to climb tower.

Alex walks up 3 of the 4 flights of stairs with Ashley.
Brother Wolf follows behind.

Be careful Alex, it's very steep with the
baby.

Thanks for telling me now.

Ashley walks into green leafy walkway following Alex, then
turns and shuts the door on Brother Wolf!

Brother Wolf comes in, put Ashley on his shoulders as they
walk down path.

Brother Wolf carries Ashley as they leave the castle grounds.

Brother Wolf is chasing Ashley up the street.

She doesn't want to wait for the bus, she

The next couple of days were unreal.

Brother Wolf takes Ashley on swinging rope ride. Ashley

We forgot ourselves, our problems. I was
starting to feel like my old self again.

INT. VOLENDAM - MONTAGE

FLASH: Fields of farmland. Windmill. Streets of Volendam,
Ashley on Brother Wolfs shoulders. Ashley down at seaside
with ducks.

Ashley had never been happier.

Getting ready to leave for Rome.

Ashley excitedly reaches for phone and smiles up to Alex.

A knock at the floor door can be heard.

ALEX
Doors open!

Door opens as Brother Wolf comes panting up the last flight
of stairs.

ALEX
Hey Brother Wolf!

BROTHER WOLF
It's a bit crazy.

ALEX
We're in the treehouse.

Door lowers back into place.

ALEX
I got the food, ready to eat?

BROTHER WOLF
Great!

ASHLEY
Ya, ya, ya!

BROTHER WOLF
Hi Ashley!

ALEX
What would you like to drink?

BROTHER WOLF
I don't know what do you have?

ALEX
Beer, milk...

BROTHER WOLF
Where do you want me to sit?

Alex points to his chair.

ALEX
Water? Anything in paticular?

BROTHER WOLF
I'll take a beer. What a great view!

ALEX
I know. We're very blessed here.

Brother Wolf waves to Ashley as Alex straps her in. Alex
goes to kitchen for drinks.

BROTHER WOLF
I see she's eating with a fork.

ALEX
I know, she's getting to be such a big
girl.

Alex returns with the drinks.

BROTHER WOLF
Thank you.

They cross themselves as Alex says a prayer.

ALEX
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit, Amen. Bless us oh Lord for these
thy gifts which we're about to receive,
from thy bounty through Christ our Lord,
Amen. Well dig in, I got you kieshe.

BROTHER WOLF
That's great, I love kieshe.

ALEX
Good. So, why'd they call you away so
quickly?

ASHLEY
Yeah.

Ashley feeds Alex some food from her fork.

BROTHER WOLF
I only have a couple of days to do each
assignment, so after everything has been
done here, I just had to write it in a
report and they want me over there.

ALEX
Wow. Do you think they'll ever gonna
call you to come to the U.S.?

BROTHER WOLF
I don't know. Very possible. You said
South Florida right?

ALEX
Mmmhmmm.

BROTHER WOLF
So when are you going back?

ALEX
Tomorrow.

BROTHER WOLF
Tomorrow?

ALEX
Yep.

BROTHER WOLF
Have a safe trip.

ALEX
Thank you. I can't believe we're flying
back tomorrow, but I need to get back to
work, and I've got a bunch of stuff to
do, things need to get done.

BROTHER WOLF
What do you do?

ALEX
Well, I mean, I personally, I live off
Mitch's money, he left for me and
everything like that. You know what I
mean. I just take care of her. That's
my full time job!

Brother Wolf laughs.

BROTHER WOLF
So you have to get back to South Florida
to take care of her. I think your taking
care of her right now.

ALEX
But her family and everything is there,
and they miss her. I love it here, but I
can't stay here forever.

BROTHER WOLF
I understand.

FLASH: Family, friends in Florida.

BROTHER WOLF (CONT'D)
Well I hope this vacation has been
enjoyable for you. I hope you got out of
it what you were looking for.

ALEX
Yes, I did, I really felt a lot of growth
in my life coming here and I just needed
to get away and do this for me. I'm glad
I came.
(talking to Ashley)
You're glad we came.

BROTHER WOLF
I'm sorry Our Lady of All Nations was a
disappointment for you.

ALEX
Well, I guess I don't know, I shouldn't
build that stuff up to be bigger than
what it is. I don't know, I've never
been to Fatima, or Lourdes, but I
wouldn't expect to be treated like that
there, would you? I mean you've been to
those places right?

BROTHER WOLF
Yes.

ALEX
It's just weird and then they call it
this big national shrine.

BROTHER WOLF
If you'd like when I get back to Rome and
hand in my report, I'll keep you updated
on what's going on.

ALEX
Yeah!

BROTHER WOLF
You seem interested.

ALEX
I am interested, in fact I feel that I'm
really being called to make sure
everything is done exactly the way Mary
wanted it. Where's this church that's
suppose to be built? Where are the, what
was it, Dominican's that are suppose to
be running the place? Why was the
painting changed? And why can't we go
into the grotto at the very least? Just
to stand next to the house where Mary
appeared. At the very least? They
should let us in and, I don't know,
that's going to be my goal, to make sure
everything happens... well, I don't know
if Mary said make sure they can get to my
spot, but I think she would have said
that...

BROTHER WOLF
Maybe I should send you to Rome!

Everyone laughs.

People walking by, cars honking.

INT. HOTEL ROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Alex, Ashley and Brother Wolf are finishing dinner. Brother
Wolf looks around at the hanging rosaries.

BROTHER WOLF
You have a lot of rosaries hanging from
the wooden beams. I see three and
another outside.

ALEX
Yes, she likes to see rosaries hanging
around her.

ASHLEY
Ga Ga Goo!

ALEX
She's a rosary kinda gal.

BROTHER WOLF
Your a very unique blessed individual.
Thought I'd let you know that.

ALEX
She's my little blessing.

Ashley drops her fork, Alex reaches for it.

ALEX
Dirty fork!

Alex leaves to kitchen with fork.

ASHLEY
AAaaahhhhh!!!

BROTHER WOLF
Very rare to come across people with your
kind of faith these days Alex.

ALEX
I think there's lots of people with my
kind of faith, maybe not my age, right?
Wouldn't you agree, or are you saying
there's no one left anymore? We're the
only ones?

BROTHER WOLF
I wouldn't say nobody.

Alex pulls fruit bowl dessert from behind her back.

ALEX
Here's the fruit bowl.

Everyone laughs because it's so tiny.

Ashley reaches for some fruit.

ALEX
Which one do you want? Pick one.

BROTHER WOLF
We only get one?

ALEX
She picked a strawberry.

BROTHER WOLF
I get one?

Alex teases Brother Wolf like he's a baby.

ALEX
Pick one, pick one.

BROTHER WOLF
I pick this.

ALEX
Oh yeah, that's what I'm picking, Mmmm.

Ashley picks her next fruit with determination.

ALEX
Next she picks, OH my God!

Alex grabs huge berry from Ashley's mouth.

ALEX
Oh my God, she picks the biggest one, and
there's probably a seed in there, it's
full of seeds!

Fingering through the fruit.

ALEX (CONT'D)
What is this? Is this passion fruit? Oh
my God, this is passion fruit! Eat it!
It's from Hawaii!

Alex shove passion fruit in Brother Wolfs mouth.

BROTHER WOLF
You can eat the seeds?

ALEX
Yeah, you can eat the seeds. I didn't
realize it was a little passion fruit.

BROTHER WOLF
Very tangy.

ALEX
I've never seen them anywhere but in
Hawaii, it's so crazy.

BROTHER WOLF
When were you in Hawaii?

ALEX
Mitch and me went there for our
honeymoon.

Ashley licks a fruit and puts it back.

ALEX (CONT'D)
(talking to Ashley)
She says no, I don't want that one, you
can have it.

BROTHER WOLF
If you don't mind me asking Alex, how did
Mitch pass away?

ALEX
Well, he got in a car accident, drunk
driver, you know, these things happen.

Alex offers more fruit.

BROTHER WOLF
No thank you.

Tense moment.

ALEX
You don't want anymore?
(to Ashley)
Is this the one you wanted? She says
yeah!

BROTHER WOLF
How long ago did it happen?

ALEX
About 6 months.

BROTHER WOLF
Your handling yourself extremely well
having a tragedy like this only 6 months
ago.

ALEX
Well, I've had a lot of help, I have a
lot of family in Florida, but it hasn't
been easy.

Alex licks her fingers. Quiet moment.

ALEX
She likes the blueberries.

BROTHER WOLF
She's downing them.

ALEX
She's my little blueberry.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. AMSTERDAM - MOMENTS LATER

Sun setting in sky, early evening approaching.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. HOTEL ROOM - EVENING

Brother Wolf is getting ready to leave.

BROTHER WOLF
Well, Alex, I hate to cut this short, but
I have to get going.

ALEX
I know, well, it was great for you to
stop by and have lunch before your plane.

BROTHER WOLF
I appreciate everything you've done for
me.

Alex gets up and walks towards the kitchen.

ALEX
I have a gift I wanted to give you.

BROTHER WOLF
Oh yeah?

ALEX
Yeah, I saw this and it totally said you
and I had to get it.

Alex walks back and hands rosary to Brother Wolf.

BROTHER WOLF
Wow.

ALEX
What do you think?

BROTHER WOLF
Gorgeous.

ALEX
And you gave me yours and now you don't
have one, so...

BROTHER WOLF
Thank you very much.

ALEX
You're welcome.

BROTHER WOLF
Very beautiful.

ALEX
Let me get you my info.

Alex goes back to write down her information for Brother
Wolf.

BROTHER WOLF
Do you mind if I wear it and pray it on
the plane ride to Rome?

Alex comes back with her info.

ALEX
That'd be great. Here's my address and
phone number.

BROTHER WOLF
Let me do the same for you.

Brother Wolf stands and kisses Alex good-bye.

BROTHER WOLF
Thank you very much.

ALEX
Thank for coming.

Brother Wolf pushes in his chair and kisses Ashley.

Alex grabs Brother Wolf's beer off table.

ALEX (CONT'D)
Done with this?

BROTHER WOLF
Yes, do you have any paper?

ALEX
Yes.

Brother Wolf writes down his info as Alex cleans up Ashley.

ALEX (CONT'D)
How's my girl? All done eating?

Brother Wolf hands Alex his information.

BROTHER WOLF
That's my cell phone number.

ALEX
Cool.

ASHLEY
Bye!

BROTHER WOLF
(to Ashley)
Bye sweetie!

ALEX
Have a safe trip. Bye.

Alex watches Brother Wolf walk down stairs and closes the
latch door. She runs back over to Ashley in the high chair.

ALEX
Well what did you think of that? Think
he's ever gonna call us? I love.

Alex kisses her on the head.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. RED LIGHT DISTRICT - THAT NIGHT

People walk the street, drinking, having a good time.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - THAT MOMENT

Ashley is fast a sleep under the covers, Alex is reading a
book about the messages of Our Lady of All Nations from Ida
Peerdeman.

Tears start to crystalize her eyes, now streaming down her
cheeks. Her focus is stronger, more pin-pointed than ever
before. She has a steadiness about her that was not there.

She fights the currents of emotion driving up inside. Her
daze is lost, in a glare. Her eyes expel a crazed peace.

Alex asleep with Ashley who turns in her sleep. The bottom
of her jaw starts to uncontrollably shake as her teeth
rattle.

She curls over in pain and releases a deep, deep sob.

FLASH IMAGES: Intense music...Mitch's last day on earth.

Snake coils, hissing.

Alex, running through alley way, trippy, Amsterdam.

Dr. Barrenger writes a prescription.

Alex and Ashley at Mitch's grave.

Snake ready to strike, tail rattling.

Ashley screams. Alex screams, "NOOo...".

Flash of lighting across a crucifix.

Ashley's scream continues. Alex voice echoes.

Feet pounding, heartbeat racing through maze.

ALEX V.O.
Mary I can't take it anymore.

Thunder pounds against a statue of the blessed Mother as the
rain storm continues.

Snake strikes. Lighting strikes.

Virgin Mary crushes serpent under her foot.

VIRGIN MARY V.O.
My child, I will help you, have
confidence.

Mary hands Alex a crucifix.

VIRGIN MARY V.O.
With the crucifix in your hand, you shall
vanquish your foe.

INT. ALEX'S HOTEL - THAT MOMENT

Alex jumps up out of bed, flying over the foot of the bed,
breathing hard. Ashley wakes up crying as Alex falls to her
knees, clutching her rosary, in front of the window.

Tears streaming down her face, Alex prays.

ALEX
Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with
thee, blessed art thou amongst women, and
blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Thank you for leading me to the Light,
and showing me Mitch ok in Heaven.

Grabbing her baby's face. She kisses her on the lips.

ALEX
God is watching over daddy and he's
praying for us in Heaven.

ASHLEY
Da...Da...

ALEX (CONT'D)
I know you miss Da Da. I do to.

She rises from her knees, lifts Ashley up and opens the
windows.

She dances softly, holding her tenderly, swaying to the
sounds of the city streets.

ALEX V.O.
I will always love it here.

They dance in the distance.

FADE TO BLACK.

An airplane flies across the sky.

FADE IN:

EXT. ALEX'S APARTMENT, FLORIDA - NEXT DAY

Angelica is closing her trunk as she carries a suitcase in.
Ashley runs to the door as Alex follows, hands full of
luggage.

Alex turns the key in the door. They walk in.

INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS

They drop their bags in the living room.

ANGELICA
Well, I'm glad you and Ashley are home
safely.

ALEX
You know, you would really like it there.

ANGELICA
I know, so far from what you said, it
sounds unbelievable. The only place I've
been that sounds remotely similar is
Boston.

ALEX
Yeah, well Boston was built up by the
Europeans that traveled over seas back in
the day.

They sit on the couch. Alex walks into the kitchen.

ALEX
Want coffee?

ANGELICA
Love some.

Alex brews a pot of coffee.

ANGELICA
So tell me more about those strange guys
you encountered at the shrine.

She walks back over to the couch. Ashley plays with her
toys.

ALEX
Guys? You mean demons or evil spirits.

ANGELICA
So tell me.

ALEX
When I left the shrine to try and find
Brother Wolf, this bald Chinese Buddhist
and this Shaman guy, also bald, dressed
in a black robe with black, red and
yellow stripes down his face, were
standing outside the shrine when I was
leaving. They were extremely friendly to
Ashley and me, but the striped spirit
fellow scared the crap out of me. When
he talked to me...

She immitates him and herself as she relives the moment.

ALEX
...He was like this.
(eyes buldged, hands folded)
Are you into all of this stuff? Well,
I'm Catholic. Do you worship Mary?
No I honor her. Well, you should chant
her name. She will bring you a lot of
power. No. Then he said, I can show you
around to other holy places of worship,
if you want. I will lead you, if you
want.
(back to normal)
His hands were held together like he was
praying, but the feeling I got while he
talked to me...was like he wasn't real.

ANGELICA
What do you mean?

ALEX
I mean I thought he was some kind of
spirit sent from Satan to distract me
from what I was there to do. If I would
have gone with them, I never would have
met Brother Wolf. See what I'm saying.
God works in mysterious ways. When I
overcame this temptation, I was blessed
with an even greater experience by
meeting Brother Wolf.

ANGELICA
You're giving me the chills just talking
about it.

ALEX
I know. It was the weirdest feeling, I
ever experienced.
(thinking)
Oh my God, I almost forgot to tell you.

ANGELICA
What?

ALEX
When I met them, I remember getting a
vision of the serpent from my dreams. It
was subtle yet disturbing at the same
time. All I kept saying in the back of
my mind, over and over, God protect us.

ANGELICA
Sounds frightening.

Alex gets up and walks into the kitchen to make them coffee.

ALEX
It was.

ANGELICA
So when are you going on your next
pilgrimage? I am definitely going with
you.

Alex laughs as she comes back in with the coffee. Alex hands
her the cup and walks to her suitcase and pulls out the cd
from Amsterdam, "Into Temptation".

ALEX
Check this music out from Amsterdam.

She plays it as gothic music fills the air.

CLOSE ON: Speaker.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. ALEX'S BEDROOM - LATER THAT NIGHT

Alex places sleeping Ashley into bed as she cuddles up next
to her.

ALEX V.O.
Thank you Lord for getting us home
safely. And thank you for opening my
eyes to see a brighter world. Amen.

She kisses Ashley on the forehead.

ALEX
Good night, Sweetie.

DISSOLVE TO:

DREAM SEQUENCE: Ashley's face, covered in blood fades in.

FLASH: Ashley POV: runs through maze.

Ashley's hand rises in front of her face as Alex's hand feeds
the baby cranberries.

FLASH: Old dream of Monk's demonic eyes, turn welcoming as he
grabs Alex by the neck, dunking her down into water.

MONK
By the power invested in me by Jesus
Christ, I baptize you Alex Murphy in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Alex lifts Ashley after Ashley finds her way out of the maze.

FLASH: Priest pours water over Baby Ashley's head, baptizing
her.

INT. ALEX'S BEDROOM - THAT MOMENT

Alex is sleeping peacefully, next to Ashley.

EXT. CATHOLIC CHURCH - EARLY MORNING

Church is basking in the new morning sun, birds chirping.

INT. CATHOLIC CHURCH - SAME MOMENT

Mass is in progress. Alex receives Communion. As the Host
is placed on her tongue, she hears Jesus' voice echo in her
head.

JESUS V.O.
Receive light eternal and the Spirit of
Truth.

Alex smiles and walks over to kneel and pray in front of the
statue of the Virgin.

ALEX V.O.
Thank you for all your help. Your
intercession in my life has increased my
faith, a gift I could never replace.

Alex pulls out her rosary from Amsterdam.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. DR. BARRENGER'S OFFICE - LATER THAT DAY

Dr. Barrenger leans into her. Alex is sitting in the chair
across from him.

DR. BARRENGER
So how was your trip??

ALEX
It was amazing. I really felt God's love
pour into my life in a special way. You
know when He said, "Seek and you will
find", well, my nightmares subsided. I
feel peace in my soul for the first time
in six months.

DR. BARRENGER
Sounds like a miracle, Alex.

ALEX
Yeah, and I've been going to church
everyday. I feel God in my life, no
longer trapped in the darkness. I have
hope once again, Dr. Barrenger.

DR. BARRENGER
What do you hope for, Alex?

ALEX
I once again see myself as a mother.

DR. BARRENGER
Since we have started these sessions, I
have seen tremendous growth. You are a
very blessed unique individual. You do
not come across people these days with
your kind of faith.

ALEX
Oh my God, Brother Wolf said the exact
same thing.
(pause, revelation)
Thank you.

INT. ALEX'S APT./LIVING ROOM

Alex sits in Ashley's little house writing in journal.

ALEX V.O.
What just happened? I need to write
everything I've been through to remember
how I got here to this moment. I guess
it all began with the day Mitch left.
Darkness fell over my soul and I would
never be the same. It was scary and life
sucking, draining my spirit. When I felt
I could take no more, God in His mercy
sent Mary to show me the way to peace.
Now I look forward to my future with much
hope.

FADE TO BLACK.

Graphics read, "Three years later...".

FADE IN:

EXT. ALEX'S BACKYARD - AFTERNOON

A large pool sits in the center of the "U" shaped house.
Ashley, now five, is running around the back yard playing.

Alex, shorter hair, is sitting on the patio furniture writing
in her journal. She stops for a moment, gazes at Ashley,
smiles and starts to write again.

ALEX V.O.
And now looking back, it's funny how it
all seems like yesterday, yet so much
happened.

She laughs to herself.

ALEX V.O.
A year after all of this took place,
Brother Wolf got reassigned to Miami. He
felt a strong calling of love to minister
to the youth through Christian Rock!

FLASH: Wolf dressed in black gothic velvet and leathers
sings to screaming fans.

ALEX V.O.
Ashley started school this year. She's
been on the honor roll all year.
(laughs to herself)
They measure intellect in kindergarten,
scary.

VISION: Ashley runs in slow motion towards camera holding an
"A" paper.

ALEX V.O.
She loves to draw.

FLASH: Ashley's drawing of the crucifixion, family portrait.

FLASH: Alex walks into Church.

ALEX V.O.
A funny thing happened to me yesterday.

INT. CHURCH - VISION

Alex is kneeling in the back of the church at the same
kneeler she received the "Our Lady of All Nations" prayer
card.
Next to her is a middle aged Italian woman, sobbing.

Alex grabs the same card from her purse and hands it to the
lady.

The woman takes a deep breathe and forces a smile.

WOMAN V.O.
Our Lady of All Nations?

EXT. ALEX/WOLF'S HOUSE - SAME MOMENT

Alex still writes in her journal.

ALEX V.O.
And I pass on the message to anybody who
will listen.

Alex clutches the crucifix hanging from the rosary around her
neck. She brings it to her heart, deep breath and a smile.

Alex lays down her journal.

ALEX V.O.
I guess what I really learned is to take
each moment with love, because you never
have that moment in time again.

Alex walks over to Ashley, grabs her by the arms and spins
her like she did when she was a little girl, flash dissolve
two images.

Camera pulls out, exposing backyard behind Alex spinning
Ashley. Ashley laughs.

The theme song, "Krush the Serpent" by Dementia, plays.

FADE OUT.
